Within the framework of the Ludovika Scholarship Program Halil Ibrahim Burgan, assistant professor at Akdeniz University, Turkey, visited Ludovika University of Public Service between 13 and 17 November 2023. Halil Ibrahim Burgan is currently working at the Department of Civil Engineering, focusing on hydraulics, hydrology, Geographical Information Systems and water management. His expertise includes hydrology, water supply, waste management and remediation. After his arrival at Budapest, he participated at a detailed discussion with the Department of Water and Environmental Policy of the Faculty of Water Sciences to outline plans for future co-operation between the two departments. He concluded the first day of his stay with a gala dinner, where he and the Ludovika Scholarship Programme members were able to get to know each other in a more informal atmosphere. On the second day of his visit, lecturer Burgan arrived at the campus of the Faculty of Water Sciences in Baja, where professor Dr. Enikő Anna Tamás, Head of the International Office welcomed him first, then he was received by Dr. Tibor Bíró, Dean of the Faculty. Afterwards he met with the teaching staff members of the Faculty at a round table discussion. The guest lecturer held a workshop on "Bernoulli's Theorem and its practical applications" in the afternoon organized by the Zsuffa István Academic Program. The event, as it covered a topic strongly related to the studies of the engineering students of the Faculty, clearly attracted their interest. The next day, he continued his visit to the Baja Campus with a presentation on the "North Cyprus Water Supply Project", and after lunch, he attended a meeting on research activities with the youngest researchers of the FWS. On Thursday, our Turkish guest spent another day in Budapest. In the early afternoon, he was received by Dr. László Balatonyi, senior lecturer at the National Water Directorate General, where he was introduced to the organization's work. After this meeting, at the monthly event of the Student's Science Club, which is organized by the students of the Master's Program in International Water Policy and Water Diplomacy at the Ludovika Campus, he launched the wide-ranging professional and scientific discourse that characterizes the activities of the club with his presentation on "Water Resources from an Engineering Perspective". He concluded his stay in Budapest on Friday. Still, he returned home to Turkey knowing he could return to the National University of Public Service next semester, having been awarded a Ludovika Fellowship for the spring semester.
